Macedonian NGO network “Together for the climate” established
The first Macedonian NGO network for action against climate changed “Together for the climate” was established on November 8, 2008. The initiative for the establishment of such a network came from Front 21/42. The founders of the network are Front 21/42, Center for environmental research and information Eko-svest, Proaktiva, Center for cultural and environmental development, Greenpower, The Green Arc and “Ekspertiza i edukacija”. On the first meeting of the network members, the name, vision, mission and targets of this network were defined. Vision: In 20 years time Macedonia has the lowest greenhouse gas emissions in the Balkan region. Mission: To support and strengthen the non-governmental sector in the topic of climate change (covering causes, consequences and responses to climate change). The honourable member of the Network is Toni Juniper, ex-director of Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who works as a special adviser to The Prince of Wales' Rainforest Project and as a Senior Associate in the Cambridge University Program for Industry. The network is open to all non-governmental organizations and individuals who want to join and who share our vision, mission and targets. |
